AIUCD2026 Cagliari

DIGICHer project partners Giovanni Bertelli, Matteo Cava and Eleonora De Longis from Istituto Italiano di Studi Germanici will present their paper on methodological approaches aimed at actively engaging minoritised communities in the process of digitising their cultural heritage.

With a focus on the case study of the Ladin community of Val di Fassa, and with a co-creative method at the heart of the project, transforming digitisation from a merely technical process into a relational and ethical practice based on direct engagement.

Through citizen science and empirical engagement, the research integrates typically ethnographic sensibilities to capture narratives, emotions, and identity values that elude traditional methods. The trial with the Ladin community validates a model of community governance, where technological choices are subordinated to the minority's cultural priorities with the aim of harmonising scientific research, innovation, and identity preservation.
